Chester Trip

The day of the outing finally arrived and we were on our way. After a brilliant journey with little traffic we arrived at a warm and bright Chester. We were so fortunate with the weather after having had many  cool and wet days.

Some of us headed  for a coffee stop before visiting the Cathedral and others made for the city walls and walked the circuit, a distance of about two miles. From the wall the arrivals at the racecourse could be seen at close quarters. Lots of expensive cars and posh togs! The Cathedral is spectacular affording wonderful photo opportunities. Some fit souls climbed over 125 feet to the top of the tower for some great views over Chester and of the inside of the Cathedral. The building is being recreated, brick by brick, using 350,000 LEGO pieces and for £1 you could add a brick.

The Falconry provided the chance to handle falcons and other birds of prey but we were unable to experience a flying display due to a buzzard  having escaped.

A most enjoyable day ended with the return journey in bright sunshine which enhanced the lovely scenery.
